About the San Jose Dojo

Officially as San Jose Dojo, I am opening the Iaido class. The time and place will be second Sunday of each month starting 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at Nichiren Buddhist Temple. However, temple activity shall take priority over this schedule, so if you’re planning to attend the class, please confirm with me before the schedule date. To be able to practice you must be paid member of San Jose Dojo, NCKF, NCIA or AUSKF affiliated official kendo/Iaido organization are authorized to practice. Only Bokuto or Iaito shall be used. At no time, shall a Shinken (Live Blade) be used during the Iai practice.

The founding father of the modern day iaido, Nakayama Hakudo Sensei learned his iaido under Sensei Hosokawa Yoshimasa and Sensei Morimoto Tokumi. Nakayama Hakudo Sensei went to Tosa during the mid-Meiji period and mastered the well-guarded Eishin Ryu. He then added his own technques to establish Musoushinden Ryu in 1933.
